Instrument rental

I have a selection of instruments available for rental. This is often a better and more accessible option for the parents of talented young players than buying the instrument outright.

My rental scheme includes three-quarter size violins, 13¼ inch (33.7cm), 14¼inch (36.2cm) and 15 inch (38cm) violas. A 15 3/4 inch (40cm) viola and a cello are also sometimes available.

Rental prices for 2023/4 are as follows:

Three-quarter size violin £38 per month
13¼ inch(32.7cm) viola £38 per month
14¼ inch (36.2cm) viola £46 per month
15 inch (38cm) viola £68 per month

If you hire an instrument, you will be given a contract to sign with full details of the agreement. The conditions of rental are these:

minimum rental period is normally one year, but in some circumstances a shorter period is possible
a deposit of 6 months’ rental is payable, which will be refunded if the instrument is returned in good condition
75% of rental paid will be deducted from the purchase price of one of my new instruments
instruments must be insured by the hirer using an approved insurer (Allianz or Lark)
please note that it is not possible to arrange rental for overseas players.
